Painting at Bok Tower
This weekend I went to Bok Tower Sanctuary to paint the gardens and spend time with my family. My favorite way to paint landscape art is plein air.
plein air painting: is a phrase borrowed from the French equivalent meaning “open” (in full) air.
The following are my plein air essentials.
1. A portable easel. This one has a storage box for my paints, brushes and palettes.
I bring Joe Miller (my good painting buddy from Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff) with me.
2. Quality paint. American Journey and Liquitex are my favorite acrylics paints.
3. A water container.
4. A comfortable stool. This one is small enough to hang off my easel box.
5. Beautiful surroundings. The gardens are gorgeous and we couldn’t have asked for a better day outdoors!
Here is my family in the new “kitchen” garden.
